Why was my payment declined?

What happens when a card payment fails or your bank asks you to confirm it, and what to try next.

Written by Nettla

Your bank decides whether to approve a payment. If it's declined, you see Payment failed with the bank's message, and the booking isn't made. Try again, or use another card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

If your bank asks you to confirm

Your bank may ask you to confirm the payment in your banking app or with a code. This happens on the payment screen at checkout. Complete it to finish your booking. You won't be asked again when the payment is charged later.

If the payment fails

  • The booking isn't made and the time isn't held for you.

  • Anything you applied from a club wallet is returned to it.

  • Start the booking again and pay with another method.

Common reasons

  • Not enough money available for the amount reserved. With Pay your part on a court, the full court is reserved. See "Why was I charged more than my share of the court?".

  • The card has expired, or the details don't match.

  • Your bank blocked the payment. Contact your bank.

Good to know

  • Neither Nettla nor the club can see why your bank declined a payment.

  • If you see "Card payments aren't available yet", the club hasn't set up card payments. Contact the club.
