When you book a court and choose Pay your part, we reserve enough to cover the whole court, because we don't yet know who will join. About 4 hours after the session ends, you're charged your own share, plus the share of any place nobody paid for. The rest comes back to you.
What is reserved
Your own share, at your price (including any member discount or discount code).
One share at the club's standard price for each other place: 3 more on a 4-player booking, 1 more on a 2-player booking.
Any technology fee and any extras you added.
Example: the court costs £40 at the standard price, so a standard share is £10. You're a member and your share is £8. We reserve £8 + 3 × £10 = £38 (plus any technology fee).
What you pay in the end
About 4 hours after the session ends, each player who joined and paid reduces your amount by one standard share:
All 3 others joined: you pay £8.
1 other joined: you pay £8 + £20 = £28.
Nobody joined: you pay the full £38.
If the club added a player as Unpaid and they still haven't paid by then, their share is charged to you.
How the difference comes back
Session ends within 6 days of booking: the reservation is simply reduced. You're charged only what you owe and the rest is released. You won't see a refund on your statement.
Session ends more than 6 days after booking: card rules don't let a reservation last that long, so the full amount is charged on day 6. After the session, the shares other players paid are refunded to you.
Paid with a club wallet: the unused shares go back to your wallet.
Good to know
The amount doesn't go down as players join. It is adjusted once, about 4 hours after the session ends.
Players can join until 4 hours after the session ends, so ask friends to join and pay before then.
Open the booking to see the Payment timeline, which shows what was reserved and when you'll be charged.
Don't want to cover empty places? Choose a public match instead. If not enough players join, it's cancelled and everyone is refunded.
