How do league standings, points and promotion work?

How the table is calculated, what happens to unplayed matches, and how teams move between divisions.

Written by Nettla

The Standings tab shows a table for each division in the current round. Teams are ranked by points, then sets won, then games won, then head-to-head results. At the end of the round, the top teams can move up a division and the bottom teams down.

Points

  • The club chooses how points are given for each round, for example 3 points for a win, or points for each set won.

  • Read the league's Important information for the exact rules.

The table

  • P is matches played, W is matches won and Pts is points. Your team is highlighted.

  • Results count in the table as soon as they're reported, even before they're confirmed.

Unplayed matches

A match that isn't played gives no points. If your opponents don't turn up, ask the club. It can record the result.

Promotion and relegation

Lines in the table show the promotion and relegation places. When the club sets up the next round, the top teams move up a division and the bottom teams move down.

Good to know

  • You aren't signed up for the next round automatically. Sign up again, or the club may add your team and you'll get a Pay email.

  • See past results on the Results tab.
